Debbie's European Shenanigans!
Sorry!

For some crazy reason I can’t rotate some of my canyoning pictures, so they are sideways!! Hopefully you can still get an idea of the picture. Sorry ya’ll!!

The University of Maastricht was so awesome and gave us a little 4th of July party! They decorated and cooked us food, it was very nice. It was pretty funny though because when I asked for a hamburger, they gave me the patty but no bun! I guess the Dutch don’t really understand the concept of a hamburger…. haha. Anyway, It was different celebrating American Independence in the Netherlands, but at least we got a small taste of home!

Our last afternoon/evening in Interlaken

There are just too many pictures to show, so here are more!!

Here was the BEST part of our entire trip, maybe even my entire summer. We went canyoning in the Alps! We hiked up to the Saxeten Canyon a little outside of Interlaken and hung out in the waterfalls! We rappelled down rocks and jumped down waterfalls. We had awesome gear and a great team helping us out. It was absolutely amazing, and it will for sure be an adventure I’ll remember forever!!

Before we went Canyoning, we explored more of Interlaken and wondered around the cute little shops. It is such a sweet town!

Our afternoon/evening in Switzerland: We finally found our hostel. It was very small since we had to fit 6 beds in one room, but it had a great view from the balcony! We rested a little bit in the room and then went to a small town about 30 minutes away, Thun, to find a lake to swim. We explored Thun together and then split off so some of us could swim and some of us could shop (I had to shop, there was a sale!!) we trained back, and had dinner together in Interlaken. We went to bed early since we had traveled all night.

Our journey there: It took a really long time to get there, which made us extremely tired on Friday. It was okay though because the scenery from the train was absolutely gorgeous!! I love it! We had 5 hour layover in Basel, Switzerland so we had to camp out in the train station there to wait… it was so cold! Also, funny story, Rachel and I went into a grocery store in one of the train stations and bought what we THOUGHT was a raspberry smoothie. Turns out it was raspberry cottage cheese!! I didn’t even know they made that. Needless to say, it was quite a shock when we took our first huge bite! Other than the long layover and crazy cottage cheese, we had a great trip!
